LACES Programme In Kundang, Selangor : Featuring Rosie and Diana From Kundang's Hawker Centre
Rosie resting and nursing her puppies at the busy hawker centre in Kundang, Selangor
A survey was carried out by Furry Friends Farm's volunteer on the stray populations in Kundang where Furry Friends Farm is located.
Kundang is a small town located in between Sungai Buluh and Rawang, Selangor. The majority of populations are Chinese and many local dogs are being kept by residents as guard dogs.. It is a common sight in Kundang to see packs of local dogs belonged to the residents roaming freely along the streets in the residential areas and without doubts every half yearly, newborn puppies can been seen in every corner of the wet market , restaurants and hawker centres.
We can see here one of the examples of the unwanted litters in a hawker centre in Kundang Town.
a) This tricolour female dog, named Rosie by the hawkers has been residing in the area for the past three years.
She has been contributing to a big number of unwanted litters since. Today, we spotted her nursing her five puppies. The puppies are merely 6 weeks old. Upon interviewing the hawkers, everyone seems to be loving Rosie, providing her sufficient left over food but nobody wants to be responsible on Rosie's welfare in the society.

b) This white short legged female terrier crossed breed, named Diana by the hawkers is also one of the strays residing in the same area with Rosie but being fed by another group of hawkers. Everyone loves her and we are being informed that her last litter was delivered not long ago but was killed by Diana. Literally, Diana stepped on her puppies to death, leaving behind only a brown female puppy.

All puppies are being removed to Furry Friends Farm and plans have been organised to neuter Rosie and Diana.
ii) On one Sunday in June, Dr Tan and Dr Wong assisted in the looping of Diana and Rosie.
The operations lasted for half an hour and Diana went disappeared after Rosie was being humanely looped by Dr Tan when she was sighted hiding under a car.

Dr. Tan successfully managed to rescue Rosie
iii) Rosie was finally spayed, vaccinated, heartworm prevented and microchipped. We are very happy to see Rosie returning to her home in the hawker centre in Kundang last Saturday.
Meanwhile. Diana was successfully being lured into a cage on the same day and was then spayed, vaccinated, heartworm prevented and microchipped as well.
