24th June 2009 : Distemper Cases Detected on the Furry Kids Rescued From The Hell Island
ABOVE : Hope is happily discharged from the vet clinic in Serdang
Distemper is a viral disease which cannot be treated. Sign and symptoms of distemper can be detected as follows:-
1) Lack of appetite
2) Nasal discharge
3) Ocular discharge
4) Laboured breath
5) Bloody diarrhea
Distemper test kits are available at vet clinics to identify the virus. Animals contracted with distemper will be treated with supportive medication to boost up the animals' immune system so that the animals own immune system would fight against the virus. We are very glad that Hope and Grace have pulled through the distemper and are discharged. We still have to monitor the medication daily at the farm for another 3 weeks before they are re-tested for distemper. They will only be given vaccination once they have cleared the test.
