Dr. Sugar passed away peacefully on 1st November 2010 at the age of 8 years old, due to breast cancer.
Dr. Sugar was the first pedigree dog adopted from Furry Friends Farm to have successfully qualified as Dr. Dog Malaysia. Her guardian, Chris Chan, had taken great care of Dr. Sugar till her last breath. Dr. Sugar had undergone a major surgery to remove the tumor 10 months earlier. Unfortunately, she suffered in great pain on 31st October and rested peacefully at 1.45 pm the following day.
Dr. Sugar achievement as a Dr. Dog Malaysia comes with a heart-warming story. Dr. Sugar was initially dumped on the streets by an unscrupulous breeder after she was no longer good for breeding. She was in a terrible condition with serious skin problems and poor breathing as she wheezed loudly, before Sabrina Yeap, founder of Furry Friends Farm decided to take her into Furry Friends Farm
It was a fateful day when Chris Chan visited the farm and fell in love with Dr. Sugar despite her poor condition. Under Chan’s love and care, Dr. Sugar blossomed into a beauty. Her pale colouring was replaced by a bright golden hue. Her skin problem vanished and she now has a thick, shiny coat.
Dr. Sugar was an inspiration to the Dr. Dog programme as she brought many joy and laughter to all the special children and folks during visitations. Furry Friends Farm is sorry for Chris Chan's loss. Dr. Sugar is missed dearly.
